In some cases, bad credit is a result of irresponsible money management. But it often occurs because of unexpected financial hardship. One day you might have all of your bills current, and the next you could become disabled or lose your job. And if you fall behind on your debts, it will wreak havoc on your credit rating.

Credit repair agencies claim that they can remove bad entries from your credit report. But did you know that you can often have them removed yourself at a much lower cost? There are two methods by which you may be able to get negative entries removed from your report.

Option #1: File a Dispute with the Credit Bureaus

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires credit bureaus to investigate any item on your credit report that you dispute. If the information is found to be false, inaccurate or unverifiable, it must be corrected or removed from your report. The bureaus have 30 days from the time they receive notice of the dispute to complete their investigation.

If there is any inaccurate information on your credit report, a dispute is certainly in order. But some people have had luck disputing items that were in fact accurate, including judgments, collections accounts and repossessions. If such items are not verified by the creditor (or the court in the case of judgments) within the time limit for investigation, they must be removed.

If you decide to dispute a legitimate entry, simply write a letter to each of the credit bureaus stating that you dispute that entry. No explanation is required. But keep in mind that if the entry is verified, it will remain on your report. And if the creditor verifies the information after the 30-day time limit, the credit bureau may reinstate the entry as long as they notify you at least 5 days before doing so.

Option #2: Negotiate with Creditors

Dealing with creditors can be intimidating, especially if you’re not on good terms with them. But speaking to your creditors directly may help you get negative information removed from your credit report.

If you only have a late payment or two on your account, a creditor might be willing to remove the derogatory information once you’ve resumed a regular payment schedule. If you’ve experienced repossession or had an account turned over to collections, payment in full might persuade them to remove the negative entry. It sounds like a long shot, but you never know until you ask. Requests to remove late payment information may be made after you’ve brought you account current. But if you’re hoping for removal of a repossession or collection action, it’s best to negotiate a deal before you pay anything.

If You Can’t Get the Bad Entries Removed

There is no guarantee that disputing information on your credit report or negotiating with creditors will get negative items removed from your record. If it doesn’t, the best thing you can do is try to build up some positive information on your report.

The first thing you need to do when trying to rebuild good credit is bring past due accounts current. Try to work out a deal with your creditors to accomplish this, or talk to a credit counseling agency. But don’t miss payments on current accounts to put money toward those that are past due. If it comes down to paying one or the other, keep the current account current.

Once you’ve brought all of your accounts current, put a priority on keeping them that way. Making your payments on schedule will raise your credit score, and with the passage of time, the good entries may outweigh the bad.

Debt has a way of creeping up on us if we let it. It’s important to keep our debt at reasonable and manageable levels, or we could end up incurring insane interest charges and scraping to make our payments. Even for those who manage debt well, unexpected life changes can result in difficulty making ends meet.

When we find ourselves having problems with debt, the first course of action is to take a look at the budget. Finding ways to cut back on unnecessary expenses can help us pay down debts and keep monthly bills current. But what happens when we can’t solve our debt problems with budgeting?

Sometimes we need outside help. It’s hard to go to someone else when you’re having money troubles, but if you don’t gain control over your debts, your credit rating will suffer. So it’s important to take charge before it’s too late.

Some debtors turn to debt consolidation as an answer to debt problems. They transfer high-interest debts to a lower interest credit card, or they put up the equity in their homes to get the money to pay them off. While these options can provide lower payments, they are not without drawbacks. Closing numerous accounts and putting all of your debt into one account can negatively affect your ratio of debt to available credit, lowering your credit score. And if you use your home equity to secure the money needed to pay off debt, you’re putting your home at an unnecessary risk.

Another popular option for those with debt problems is credit counseling. Credit counseling agencies offer help with budgeting, and in some cases, they will set you up with a debt management plan. A debt management plan involves negotiation with creditors to obtain lower interest rates and lower payments. The debtor makes one monthly payment to the credit counseling agency, and the agent forwards payments to each creditor.

A debt management plan can help you get out of debt faster, but it can also impact your credit. A note is added to your credit report stating that you are undergoing credit counseling. This means that you can’t get new credit. However, the notation is removed once you’ve paid off your debts.

It’s also important to make sure you’re dealing with a reputable credit counseling agency. Some charge high fees or fail to make payments to creditors on time. There have also been some that were found to be outright scams, keeping the money that debtors sent them to pay their bills with. When considering credit counseling agencies, make sure they’re members of the Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies (AICCCA) or the National Foundation of Credit Counseling (NFCC). These organizations regulate and monitor member agencies, making sure that they operate legally and ethically.

An overabundance of debt can wreak havoc on our finances and our credit scores. It can also be the cause of undue stress. By seeking help at the first sign of trouble, we can often prevent our debts from spiraling out of control.

It seems like there is no rest of the weary. And, the weary person is usually mom. Moms take care of hearth and home, but who takes care of her? If you are a busy mom, learn to value yourself as a person and schedule personal time.

Personal time is a right of being a person. Each of us has the capacity to nurture others but that type of care takes its toll.

A car is filled with gas to make it run. Eventually the gas runs out and your car won’t move unless the car is replenished with fuel. The same goes for you. Emotional issues can develop when you don’t take the time to take care of your emotional well-being, not to mention the physical results of emotional neglect.

Mom time refuels the tank so that you can give to your family as well as yourself in equal measure. Don’t be ashamed to sit for fifteen minutes doing nothing. In the springtime, relaxing in a hammock under a tree is the perfect getaway from the pressures of the day. Reading a book for 30 minutes can also seem like heaven to many moms.

Here are a few tips to help you fit in much needed “mom” time:

1. Get up early if you have to. When you have kids, the day begins at a hurried pace. Once you hit the ground running, there is no stopping you. Waking 30 minutes to an hour ahead of time means quiet solitude to drink your coffee, read a book, meditate or listen to music.

2. Turn ordinary experiences into major events. When you take a bath, add candles, bubble bath, quiet music and/or an inflatable bath pillow. Your regular bath has now become a spa level experience. If you watch a movie, turn out the lights, pop a bag of microwave popcorn and curl up on the couch.

3. Ask your significant other for help. Kids love their mothers but time spent with dad is important too. Let them bond with dad while you go shopping for a new outfit or root around in the garden. Since the time is yours, do whatever you like.

4. Use the Boy Scout motto. Always be prepared and you can spend more time in a relaxed mode. Fix lunches the night before. Iron clothes for the next day and place backpacks by the front door so kids can grab them on their way out. The fewer things you have to do throughout the day, the calmer you will be with your family and not experience burnout.

5. Take exercise breaks. When you get a few minutes the last thing you want to do is exercise but getting a little physical activity in your day has far-reaching implications. Exercise helps you to think clearly and stretches the muscles. Also, stress will drain away as powerful endorphins are released into your system. Do jumping jacks during a television commercial or jog to the bus stop to pick up the kids.

6. Laugh at regular intervals. Keep a funny calendar cube on your desk or subscribe to a daily joke site. Laughing releases stress and can lift your spirits significantly. It also keeps the abs tight.

Moms, take care of you. Your family would miss you if you were not around to love and care for them. You owe it to yourself and you deserve a break from the daily hustle and bustle.

When you are a mom, helping your kids practice time management is important. If you are able to help them better manage their time, it can help you out as well. Teaching your kids time management now is important and it will help them have a more organized and productive life in the future as well.

Start out by getting the right tools for your kids. Get them a calendar, such as a desk calendar or a wall calendar for their room. Also include a pen or marker to use on the calendar. Have them put up important events, such as project due dates, test dates, and quiz dates.

Teach your kids to avoid waiting until the night before projects or tests to start working on them. Help them to realize that starting ahead of time will help them to accomplish things sooner and they’ll have better results.

Get your kids into a routine for time management. Set up a specific time for your children to work on their homework. Ensure that they complete homework before playing games or watching television. Once their homework is done, then they can relax. Usually kids have less energy as the evening goes on, so having them complete it early is a great idea.

Lead your kids by example. Remember, you can’t help them to practice time management if you are not using good time management skills yourself. Make sure that you are showing them a great example of time management skills. Kids learn by watching you, so brush up on your own skills to help them learn better ways to manage their time.

When you are a mom, you wish that a day had at least 25 hours instead of only 24. It always feels like there is more to do, no matter how hard you work. However, if you begin to manage your time, you can take control of your life instead of allowing it to control you. Here are some great ideas that can help you to save more time.

Idea #1 – Figure Out Where You are Wasting Time

It is important to know where you are wasting time. This way you can figure out what you need to do to get those lost minutes back. Take a few days and start writing down everything that you do. This way you’ll know where your time is going.

Idea #2 – Come Up with a Strategy

In order to implement time management into your life, you need to come up with a strategy. Figure out a plan that you can use daily to make sure you get things done while still having some time to relax.

Idea #3 – Figure Out Your Top Priorities

Each day, figure out what your top priorities are going to be. Know what absolutely must get done and the things you only would like to accomplish. Get through the top priorities first. If you get those done, then you can focus on the other items you would like to get down.

Idea #4 – Keep Goals Realistic

When you are creating time management goals, you need to keep them realistic. If you create goals that you can’t achieve and you fail, it will only get you down and make it more difficult for you.

Idea #5 – Reevaluate on a Regular Basis

Sometimes your time management plan is going to need some revisions. Evaluate how things are going and make adjustments to make it work for you and the family. Make changes to the plan that will help you get through your days more

Being a mom can be stressful. You have a huge mix of activities, and most of them can’t be predicted or even controlled. Without good time management, you are going to end up dealing with more stress. These two topics are intertwined together, so here is a look at some of the top myths about time management and stress.

Myth #1 – All Stress is Negative – This is not the case. There is good stress too. The thing is, moms need to recognize negative stress and deal with this problem.

Myth #2 – Time Management Takes More Time – No. Research actually shows that time management and planning out your time is going to save you time.

Myth #3 – I Don’t Have Enough Time to Accomplish Things – In most cases, this is a myth for moms. Usually moms are not using their time to their advantage and getting done what they need to. You have enough time – you just have to use it the right way.

Myth #4 – I Feel Fine So I’m Not Stressed – Even if you feel fine, it doesn’t mean that you are not stressed out. More than likely you aren’t aware of the signs your body is giving you. Twitches, headaches, and even mood swings can be signs you are stressed because you’re not using your time wisely.

Myth #5 – I’m Busy All The Time So I’m Using My Time Wisely – This is not always the case. In many cases you may be only taking on urgent tasks instead of doing the things that are really important.

Today we will chit chat about some useful tips for new moms.

Those of us that have had the blessing of having children could understand that taking care of a new baby and getting back on tract could be a bit challenging, here a few tips for new moms:

Pamper Your Body
Having a baby takes a toll on our body and you could bounce back more quickly if you pamper yourself. When you are ready, let the hubby watch the little one for a little bit and go and spend sometime on yourself.

Get Plenty of Sleep
I know that this tip might be difficult since the new baby is not on a schedule and might not be sleeping for the night but whenever you can, sleep, sleep and sleep.

Don’t Forget Your Partner
I cannot stress this enough, having been a mom myself, I can safely say how easy it is to take your partner for granted during the beginning phases after giving birth. But I quickly learned to take care of my partner.

Try Not to Get Into the Baby Blues
There is a big percentage of women that experience the “baby blues” or mild mood changes after childbirth. You must be in tuned with your body and mind and try to quickly pick up any mood changes and disregard them.

And last but not least, enjoy your new baby! Because before you know you will be an empty nester.

Till next time

Most of us spend at least eight hours a day in our bedrooms, it only makes sense that they be a pleasing room to be in. You will sleep better and enjoy your leisure time much more in a neat and
orderly bedroom. Here is how you can make your own bedroom or your children’s rooms, the oasis they should be.

De-cluttering the bedroom can be a big job- especially if you are a “pack rat.” Start by tackling the biggest project first…the closet. Use the top down approach, once again, and take everything off
the shelves, if there are any.

Sort through the pile of things from the shelf and decide what you need, what you want, and what can be thrown or given away. If you find something that you forgot you had and have no use for, throw it
out. Dust the corners of the closet walls and wipe down the shelf before replacing the items.

Move down to the hanging items next. Take everything out and wipe off the hang bar. Now go through the pile of clothes, being blatantly honest with yourself. If it doesn’t fit, is hopelessly out of
style, or is in need of repair that will never happen, throw it out or put it in a bag to be given to charity. Though we should all keep a pair or two pants for less-then-slender days, the jeans that were super-snug
in high school are never going to go over those hips that bore three children, ever again.

While you are going through the hanging clothes, check your hangers to see if any need replacing. You can buy new ones very cheaply, or recycle those that are on the items you are getting rid of.
If you find that your closet is still stuffed full, even after weeding out the old things, try adding a bar beneath one half and hanging tops on the upper bar and skirts and folded pants below.

Finish up the closet by removing everything from the floor and vacuuming thoroughly. Dust the corners and wipe down the walls if needed. Sort through the items here with the same technique of throwing
out the old, unnecessary items and only keeping what you need and really
want.

Next move on to the dresser, sorting through the clothing there in the same fashion. Wipe out the drawers before putting all the “keepers” away. De-clutter the top of the dresser, as well. Throw out
old toiletries and perfumes that might be wasting the space.

If you are cleaning in a child’s bedroom, you should tackle the toy box next. Throw away anything that is broken or has missing pieces. Take toys, books, and games that are in good shape, but
have been outgrown or rarely used, and box them up for donation to a children’s hospital or other charity. Sort smaller toys into bins or containers with other like items. This technique works well for blocks, small cars, train sets, Barbie dolls and similar items.

Working at home and keeping up with everything else in your home is a huge task. Sometimes it seems totally impossible as a mom to do the laundry, cook meals, take care of kids, and get your work done as well. However, there are some great time management tips that you can use to keep up with your home, even while you are working at home.

Tip #1 – Look for Easy Recipes – Cooking can take up a lot of time. Start looking for easy recipes to help you make the best use of your time. Look for those that include only a few ingredients and that only require about 30 minutes for you to prepare. You can cook healthly without having to spend huge amounts of time in the kitchen.

Tip #2 – Spend 15 Minutes Picking Up – Just take 15 minutes out of your day while the kids are gone to pick up through the house. Pick up clutter, deal with a load of laundry, or clean up the kitchen. In just 15 minutes, you can accomplish a lot. This works wonders, you will be amazed at how much you can get done 15 minutes a day.

Tip #3 – Try to Find a Routine – Many moms find that having a routine can be very helpful when they are trying to keep up with their home. Figure out days to do laundry, days for shopping, and days to clean other areas of the home. This way you know when you need to get something done.

Keeping your sanity as a work at home mom is a lot easier when you use time management. Of course, don’t allow yourself to get stressed out if you miss something. There is always tomorrow. Do your best to use these simple tips, and keeping up with your home will be a lot easier, even as you work at home as well.
